The weather cleared considerably and what seemed like a near disaster during the week turned out to be a fairly typical race day. The sun wasn’t shining (that’s typical for this summer) it had been raining (that was typical) and those that did race decided very close to the 6:00am cut-off time to get in and register.
We had 45 competitors turn out for the event and Dr Bike (Paul Woodger from Palm Beach Supercycles) gave a race briefing to these competitors to advise them of the road conditions and to give some safe riding tips for manoeuvring around potholes and avoiding puddles.
I couldn’t stay on for the race finish so thanks to John Warren for the post match report and handling the random draws.
Breakfast which was postponed 28/1 has been re-scheduled for next Saturday 4/2/12. Bring your appetites along.
The end of the season is fast approaching and we are in the organising period for the presentation evening. Details of the presentation night are as follows:
Date: 17th March 2012
Venue: Visions at Twin Towns (the main club not Club Banora).
Cost: $45 per person. Please note that competitors get a $1 discount for each race they complete during the season, if you have done 10 races your discount off the ticket price is $10.
There will be lucky door prizes and raffles on the night. This is a great evening and with me not allowed to book the music we are all sure to have a good time.
Mark the date in your diaries and keep an eye/ear out for the tickets to go on sale.

A quick reminder about the marshalling duties. The role of the marshal is NOT to act as a traffic warden. You are not there to direct traffic or to offer advice to cyclists.
You may simply state that there is traffic coming, or bikes coming no more. It is up to the competitors to observe the road and to decide whether they believe it is safe to make the turn. Competitors should not rely on the road marshals for advice. The fluro jackets they wear serve as an indicator to traffic that something is on and that is all.
