Race Report 14 March 2015

After last week’s made to order race conditions, It appears the handicapper had a bit of work to do during the week, I’m sure he had pleasure telling a few Twinnies members at registration that their start time had been ALTERED.

And to top it off, today was windy, windy at every turn, every corner and into a HEAD WIND both on the bike and the run, it was probably there in the swim as well, but I am lead to believe that some young up and coming star (who does a bit of secret training up the coast) may have scored a PB. We’ll just have to wait and see in two weeks who will take the crown.

WARNING WILL ROBINSON , warning……………..THIS COMING SATURDAY IS THE LAST POINT SCORE RACE

That’s right in two weeks on NSW State Election Day 28 March we will be hosting the last race of the Twin Towns Triathlon season with a time trial. Police will be marshaling at the two intersections controlled by lights and it’s a shotgun start, followed by our annual Presentation Night. Tickets are on sale each Saturday and please be warned

THERE ARE NO TICKETS AVAILABLE ON THE DAY

OR

AT THE DOOR .

Tickets need to be purchased either before or after our weekly race meeting.

Intermediate Club Championship
This Saturday we will be hosting the Intermediate Club Championship, don’t think these kids aren’t going for glory, it appears one contender may miss the race due to a broken arm suffered during a secret running session, (she even asked if the timekeeper would consider using her last race time). Nice try Millie. But you can guarantee, they all will be chasing a place, so come down and support our triathletes of the future.

Safety
Now, we have spoken about this on many occasions, and although it’s the end of the season, there is no excuse for Twin Town Triathlon competitors financial or non- financial not to be protecting themselves. We had 40 riders on the course today and of those there were 19 (yes nineteen) half the competitors with NO FRONT OR REAR TAILLIGHT. If you are unfortunately involved in a collision with a motor vehicle, the Police will ask both you and the motorist, Did you have your lights on?  And you will say……

What do you think Twin Towns Triathlon Club’s Insurance Company will say????? I think they will say you contributed to the accident- due to having no front or rear lights. Rant over…. Please make sure you have OPERATING front and back lights- for your own safety.

Milestones
It was good to see some people celebrating a friend who achieved a milestone, wait for it …… 100 races, I can’t actually say I have seen so much celebration for any Milestone but …. Well done Lisa Ross and your merry band of supporters- you all added plenty of enthusiasm to the morning.

Lisa Ross 100 Hundred Races, who's the photo bomber??

Lisa Ross 100 Hundred Races, who’s the photo bomber??

Silent Achiever  … Did you hear that one of our champion members traveled down to Wollongong last weekend to compete in the Australia Championships and came FIRST, which give hers Qualification rights to the World Championships being held later this year in Chicago, guess who  ….  Congrats to Tracy Foyster Go Girl

 Late Breaking News
Mooloolaba Tri has held on Sunday, plenty of Twinnies members headed up to the Sunny coast and according to some social media pages, there was plenty of celebrations both prior and post race. More to come at presentation next Saturday, but our Elder Statesman Joe Ward a young 81 year old won his age group. Never say you’re to old to exercise. Well done Joe, you are up there on the pedestal for everyone to admire and aspire to be as good and active as at the same age.

President           Wendy Wise
V President       Val Lambard
Secretary           Jenny Scaysbrook
Treasurer          Jimmy Collins
Records             Doug Neill
Supporting Committee Members:
Julie Lowe, Sue Baxter, Vicki Lawes, Warren Copping and Lisa Warner

Thanks to Guy Daveron who has been on the committee for the past ten (10) years and now standing down, but  has put his hand up to continue this next session to put out the drink stations at both the run turn around and back at transition.

This will be my last post as I will also be standing down due to work commitments, I would like this opportunity to thank all the members, the parents of the intermediates and our juniors. with out you and your support we have limited future.

To  our  members, thank you,.it is you that make our club. With out you – we have no club.

For those who have never been on the committee, give it a go, you never know what you can achieve if you don’t have a crack.

For our club to continue for another 25 years, we need innovation, new ideas, ones like the team challenge, timing chips -major races have  timing chips and electronic timing facilities why can’t we. We as a club are looking at that -which was discussed at the AGM , but we have to take small steps.Stand by next season for more information on that front.

When I joined the committee  we had a limited internet page and certainly no social media page (FACEBOOK)  there are still many members of the community and our club that haven;t grasp social media like , email and Facebook for one reason or another, but we as a club have provided tried to ensure all members of the club are  able to be communicated with whether that be Facebook, Email, Website, snail mail at the beginning of the season or  over a coffee, we try our best.

Our club is evolving  and we need your supp0rt to continue to grow. We – Twin Towns Triathlon Club is one of the strongest, largest and most financial sub-clubs of the main club Twin Towns Services Club. lets continue to grow

Good luck to the on coming committee
