Race Report 1 March 2014
Pinch and a punch for the first of the Month, welcome to autumn. Again Twinnies members were blessed with perfect racing conditions. Our membership attendance over the season has been fairly consistent with a tad over 80 regularly racing each week.
Today saw the final race/presentation of the juniors. A few will be stepping up to the intermediate division next season. A big congratulations, and thanks to Kelly and Scott Styman for their guidance and dedication to the Juniors over the past 2 seasons. We look forward to a band of parents getting together to ensure the Juniors event continues.
Two milestones this week
George Levett finally completed 300 club races, it has been rumoured/alleged that over the years he has been known to walk from the tennis courts, feign injuries, check his watch, and then come out on the last race of the season and smash it. But remember this is only rumour and innuendo. Well done Georgia our own flying Lifesaver.
Ian Curnow joins the 200 Race club and is one to watch come the Club Championships
Nominations are open for club championships, just put your name down, it’s that easy
Dr Bike Junior
Paul posted on our facebook page about the opportunity to listen to Tim Reed talk about long course racing. If you are interested in hearing the tips and tricks from a pro, let Paul or Brooksey know.
Maintenance: the drive chain, like everything else on the bike needs constant maintenance, particularly given the harsh coastal environment we live and train in, sand, salt air, perspiration. If, you not sure how to clean your chain bike property, drop into your favourite bike shop, (we have plenty around the area, and some are our weekly sponsors). Palm Beach Supercycles, Storm Cycles, South Tweed Cycles and Kingscliff Cycles and pick their brains. Basically wipe your chain over, to get rid of the excess grim/dirt/sand. Apply some chain lube to the rear cluster and rotate the pedals a couple of times and leave overnight. The next day, wipe the chain over again.
