Race Report 15 February 2014

And the drought continues, this has almost got to the driest season Twinnies has experience in recent times. I don’t hear any triathletes complaining, but it would be nice to see some rain, overnight and all gone before that early morning training ride.

Doctor Bike took his tuition to another level and went out prowling around those darned Pink X’s. He rode behind some and offered some advice and guidance He will continue to do this and if anyone wants some special assistance just give him a hollow.

Coach Des was also out on the course warning cyclist of our latest obstacle courtesy of Tweed Shire Council at the intersection of Botanical and Leisure Drive. See last weeks post for a photo. Yesterday was the only day he will be there, if you have friends coming down just remind them to take it a little wide and stay off the white paint.

As we approach the final races of the season, next week’s race is the last race that will count towards any discounts for the Presentation Night.  The discounts will be $1 off for every race completed this season. Tickets will cost $40 with your club generously subsidising the night. Guaranteed to be a great night.

Points Score, it has been a tightly fought race this season, fathers v sons, fathers v daughters, wives v husbands and mates v mates. The difference between 1st and 10th place is only 67 points. And between 1st and 20th place is 102 points. Anything is possible, flat tyres, red lights, forgetting to turn up and sleep in or someone has a couple of absolute blinders. Give it your all and don’t leave anything in the tank. Its good to see that we have three intermediates in the top 50 Ashton Saunders(19) Nathan Raksts (38) and Caitlin Jones (50)- well done.  A quick inspection shows that only 5 members have completed every race today this season. Yesterday was the last day Doug will publish the point score, if you missed checking it out, what can I say, Bad Luck,

Doctor Bike Junior Paul Woodger spoke on group riding techniques especially when climbing hills.  Remember to only ride 2 abreast, maintain your spacing’s between the rider in front and their speed. There was a photo taken of a unknown rider having a testosterone moment racing up a hill near the packing shed in Cudgen which clearly showed this rider on the incorrect side of the white double dividing lines. This photo was then posted onto a social network site.
