This is what we woke up to this morning

63 brave athletes rose well before sunrise and ventured down to Twinnies, where we waited, we raced and we went home, all before the predicated weather arrived.

In fact it didn’t rain at all during the event, we won’t talk about the humidity or wind.  The overnight rain left the roads a bit wet and slippery which caused Sara Graham to come unstuck and came down on a roundabout. Thanks to all those that stopped to help, Sara was able to get back on her bike and ride home. She suffered a nasty graze to her right elbow and bruising to her hip. So, let’s all hope she recovers quickly and is back on the bike next week.

Twinnies new Timing Clock

Twinnies Tri Club received an early Christmas present from the main club. Our new timing clock arrived yesterday, but not in time for President Matt to get the necessary battery for it to operate. So a big shout out to Board of Twin Towns Services Club for purchasing this expensive piece of equipment. It’s double sided, so it can be clearly seen from the pool deck, even for those sight challenged members and also from the timing desk.

Your marshals on course today were Kevin ‘the rock’ Bannerman at the top of Fraser, Lisa Warner at Lochlomond RAB and Danny Warner at Woodlands Drive RAB.

Bike Lights

It seems the message about lights is getting through to most competitors, we did have one today who forgot his money and front light, but generally it was pretty good, Kev Bannerman on the top of Fraser gave his award for the best and brightest light to Col Woodward followed closely by Tracy Foyster. Col has two lights on the front of his bike, one flashing and one steady and all fully charged each Friday night.

Bike Racking

On bike racking, it seems we need a little work, it’s not too bad at the moment with smaller numbers, but just because you want your spot and someone already has there bike there.

Which bike was racked at 4:50am?

Gold stars to these cyclists!

You have two options, get there earlier than them or find another place to rack your bike.

… just because you’ve been doing the same thing for the past number of years doesn’t matter or if someone says,  ’is there enough room here for my bike’ when there clearly isn’t.

And lets make this clear, IT IS NOT OK TO TOUCH OR MOVE ANYONE ELSE’s BIKE.
