Sign on is from 5:15am and closes at 5:50am sharp each Saturday prior to the event. The club operates on NSW time.

Twin Towns Triathlon Club starts and finishes from Tweed South Aquatic Centre, Heffron St, Tweed Heads.

Weekly registration is online via 'Webscorer'. You can find the link on the homepage of this website, or weekly reminders are sent by email. Registration closes 7pm Thursday prior to the Saturday race. Creating a free webscorer account is recommended but optional. Please keep in mind that your chip number is linked to the spelling of your name.

Please Note: All participants must register before registration closes on Thursday prior to Saturday's race.

There is no obligation to attend every Saturday, it's up to you. Every person who is competing must have completed and signed a Participant Registration Form.

5:15-5:50 Setup and registration

  • Racers are encouraged to arrive by 5:30 to allow time for registration

6-7:30 Racing

  • Start times depend on event and handicap

7:40 Presentation

  • A short presentation is held in transition after the race, sometimes followed by a breakfast (check out the calendar). These include '60 seconds' with members, recognising milestone achievements, welcoming new members, and news and updates about the club.

After the race

  • Come join us for a coffee after the race at Next Door Espresso – just around the corner from the Pool

Cost per race:

    • Adults
        • Club members: $10 cash

        • Non-club members: First race free

    • School students: $5 cash

    • Family rate: 3-plus family members: $20 cash.

Timing chip:

    • Members are required to have a timing chip which are available on race days for $20. First-timers are not required to purchase a chip for their first race.

Newcomers who are not yet members are allowed one (1) race before they must become a financial member to compete. For your initial race make sure you are at sign-on before 5.50am NSW time.

No electronic payment is available on Saturdays. Cash only.

Cost for non-members free for first race. Allow extra time if you have not been allocated a timing chip. You must have completed the Participant Registration Form.

Membership can be made in-person or over the phone at Twin Towns Services Club. Call the friendly membership team on 07 5599 0260.

NOTE: You will need to join Twin Towns Services Club ($16.50) and the Triathlon Club ($30) for insurance purposes. Total $46.50 annually for adults. These costs are low for Under 18/Juniors: $11 + $2.20 = $13.20

You can download the Twin Towns app to your mobile device (iPhone, Android or Tablet), register using your membership number and you can then renew memberships via the app.

Twin Towns Triathlon Club is not a member of Triathlon NSW. It is not necessary to be a member of Triathlon NSW to be a member of our club. Contact Triathlon NSW if you are interested in joining this organisation.

All competitors MUST purchase a timing chip for $20 to race regularly. First timers may choose not to purchase a timing chip for their first visit.

Timing chips can be purchased on Saturday at the race check-in desk (cash only as we do not have an electronic payment facility).

Upon signing on for the first time, you will be allocated a start time and your race number. Your timing chip will remain your possession and your responsibility to look after. A replacement timing chip must be purchased if lost.

TwinTown Juniors Triathlon Club provides regular friendly non-competitive events parallel to the main tri club.

For the main tri club, the minimum age is 11 years for Tempta and Teams events and 13 years for all other events.

Any age! We already have a 78 year old member racing every week, so age is definitely no barrier!

We regularly hold SprintTempta, Aquabike, and Swimrun distance events. At scheduled times in the season we also hold Teams events and Double Distance (twice the Sprint and Aquabike distances).

Sprint (minimum age 13 years)
Swim - 500m (20 laps x 25m)
Ride -  15.7 km
Run - 4.4 km

Tempta (minimum age 11 years)
Swim - 300m (12 laps x 25m)
Ride - 7.7km
Run - 2km

Aquabike (minimum age 13 years)
Swim - 500m (20 laps x 25m)
Ride - 16.7 km

Swimrun (minimum age 13 years)
Swim - 500m (20 laps x 25m)
Run - 4.4 km

Swim

    • Start at your allocated time

    • Self seed to a lane of your ability and stay to the left of the lane, slower swimmers encouraged to use the outer lanes

Ride

    • Helmet on before touching bike

    • Mount after the witches' hats at the southern end of transition

    • Obey all road roads, including traffic lights

    • Must have working front and back light SWITCHED ON. Any competitors not complying will NOT BE permitted to compete.

    • Dismount before the first witches hat on return

Always ride in a defensive manner. Breaking road rules will result in disqualification and additional penalties.

Run

    • Rack bike, then remove helmet

You are not allowed to use these devices as they can impair your hearing whilst competing.

YES. Front and rear lights in working over must be fitted to all bikes for ALL EVENTS. This is in interest of competitors safety and any competitors not complying will NOT BE permitted to compete.

Swim leg — swimmers or a tri suit.
Bike and run legs — the upper torso must be covered so a t-shirt/singlet over swimmers.

For the 2024-2025 season, a custom Twinnies running singlet is given out at to members at after their 5th race of the season a the post-race presentation.

The club also occasionally makes a group order of our club kit. Through these members are may order for our custom tri suits and cycling kit.

Every week your individual swim, ride, run and overall times are recorded and made available for your perusal throughout the season.  At the conclusion of each race, your times will be posted online to a cloud based program called Webscorer and on our results page.  Results will also be posted to our Facebook page immediately following the race and posted on our results page on the website which is updated each week.

For the 2024-25 season, to participate in the club championships you need to have completed six (6) club races in the season and carried out one (1) marshalling duty.

Prizes to be announced.

    • Handicaps are reset at the beginning of the season to the best time over (up to) the previous 3 season + 3 minutes.

    • Handicap time determines your start time. (Eg if your best time this season was 1:10:30 then your start time would be 6:19:30

    • First time racers are automatically allocated to start at 6:00

    • Handicaps are updated whenever they are beaten

Points are awarded for both participation and improving relative to your handicap in the Sprint course

    • Participation - 15 points per race (30 points per Double Sprint race)

    • Beating handicapped time - up to 15 points per race
        • Only awarded for beating your handicap

        • Must start at your allocated time

        • Each race, the racer to beat their handicap by the most time will receive 15 points, the second 14, third 13, etc for up to 15 racers

Any person wishing to compete in the Club Championships must complete at least one volunteer marshalling duty (or equivalent) per season. This includes competitors under the age of 18 doing the main race (parent/s are encouraged to assist them).

The club welcomes all levels of ability and experience, and is the ideal place for beginners to get started.

No, but there can be a lot to learn, so it helps to learn from seasoned competitors who are more than happy to lend their encouragement.

Umm, this describes many rookies! No fear, local coaches run excellent beginner-level stroke-correction courses and swimming squads that will have you exiting the water in decent shape, and not feeling too lonely on the bike leg. Unfortunately, no swimming aids eg. Pull buoys, fins or paddles are allowed.

Unfortunately there is no option for teams outside of our scheduled team events. Teams in these events are allocated based on handicap.
