Our new marquee – looks great doesn’t it! Junior Timekeeper Amy on the job. Thanks for showing up every week and running the timing system Amy!

After a few downpours Friday night, Saturday morning found the roads surprisingly dry. It ended up a great morning hit out with 50 participants, including 2 for intermediate course. It may have been the lure of the free race and free breakfast! Thanks to President Kent Holmes for organising breakfast including cereal, scones and muffins. Thanks also to Jo Colja for her deliciously fresh fruit salad.

Some people break their wrist for their 50th (doh!) and some people break the hour. Congratulations Mark Harrison for turning 50 this week and reaching your goal of breaking the hour today. Another achievement today was Timekeeper Dave De Closey reaching 350 races – great work Dave!

In other news, star swimmer Matt Lance brought along friend and Olympic swimmer Matt Abood for a whirl around the course. A number of us took great pleasure in watching his smooth technique in the pool – imagine being able to swim like that!

Peter Rudland and Darren Jones both competed at Busselton earlier this month. Pete completed the full Ironman and DJ the 70.3. Sadly, yours truly (Michelle) broke her wrist a week before race day so was unable to race in the 70.3.

Next Saturday race is Christmas Eve. The Juniors were very lucky and received an early visit from the man in the red suit. Thanks Santa! And thanks Rob Gillies for being Santa’s elf for the occasion.

Note that we have just been advised that the pool will not be opening until 10am on NYE. Therefore there will be no race on Sat 31 December.

Lastly, a big shout out of appreciation to our marshalls and the awesome peeps who help pack away the racking etc after the tri. Team work makes the dream work – thank you 👍
