As our season comes close to completion with only two (2) more races left, it was good to see so many happy faces turning up in the dark. The breeze was a little chilly and a few dragged out some jumpers and jackets, but as I was sitting at the timing desk on the finish line it appears that the conditions must have suited most, with many breaking their time. So, I expect our Time Keeper/Recorder- Dave DQ will have some late nights adjusting handicaps.
Our Club Championship race is only two Saturdays away. We will be hosting three (3) events on the day. The non-competitive full distance going off at 06:00, the intermediate U18 Championship and non- competitive Intermediates going off at 06:15 and the Club Championship going off at 06:30am. Age group nominations are still open. To qualify for the Club Championship event, you need to have completed 10 club races prior, and carried out a marshaling duty.
The winner of the ’Russ Evans Memorial Towel’ which is awarded to the leader of the
(who has not already received a towel) at the end of each month goes to Scott Styman as a February winner.
Our 60 seconds snapshot was with Johnno Davis, one of our U18 Full Distance competitors. He favourite car and so far his first is a VW Polo, he hinted at Mum’s food being his favorite and he would like to be a nurse like his parents.
Presentation night- Saturday 28th March, the night we come together all dressed up- no lycra in sight is coming together. Guest Speakers, Random Draw prizes, three (3) course meal and a couple of drinks. We will find out who is our fastest male and female swimmers, riders & runners, who will wear No.1 and No.2 on their shoulder? Who is our point score winner?, who you voted as our club person of the year?, who gets the President’s Award?, who was the biggest Galah?, who are our age group champions?, here how Bill Chaffey went from being a Policeman in Murwillumbah to becoming World Champion Five (5) times all whilst working full time. It really is a night not to be missed.
Next Saturday- 21 March is the last day we will be selling tickets, so we can get numbers for the caterers. Your ticket price is $40 for a 3-course meal and 2 drink tickets is heavily subsidised. So, bring your cash along.
Our marshals for next week are;
Mark Collison on Fraser, Gerard and Kaleb Robards on Woodlands, Ben Hall on Lochlomond and Christian Andrews on Tooloona Drive. All these marshals were resting prior to a big hit out at Kingscliff Triathlon, which has now been cancelled/postponed.
Thats all for now
