Today was a pretty special day with a huge milestone for one of our long term members. Kev Bannerman completed his 600th race, being only the 5th member to join this prestigious club. Originally a Kempsey boy, Kev competed in his first triathlon event in the very early days of our sport when he raced in the Nepean Triathlon in 1984. He joined Twinnies in 1992 and has been an active member of our club ever since. Kev is a current member of the Committee in which he has served for 6 years and as President for 2 years. He is a softy at heart with his favourite movie being The Sound of Music and loves the music of Wazza and the Wazette’s! It’s well known that Kev can’t wait to buy a caravan and enjoy weekends away with Carol and the ever growing caravan crew! Don’t hold your breath though!!
Congratulations Kevi! An awesome effort!!
A reminder to all that bike lights are essential for racing in our club tri. Make sure lights are charged before arriving. We do have a limited supply of lights available for loan if you discover your lights are flat. Please adhere to this rule as it is an important safety precaution. Thank you.
The uniform order is in and should be ready very soon. Will let you know as soon as possible.
Marshalls
Thank you to Virginia Freeman, Lorraine Bassett, Stu Crawford and Steve West who were our course Marshalls today.
Next week Marshalls are; Alex Gilks on Fraser, Dean Webb at Woodlands Drive, Guy Davoren at Lochlomond RAB and Danny Warner at the Tooloona RAB.
Last weekend a number of members travelled out to Goodiwindi to compete in the Hell of
the West Triathlon. As the name suggests, it’s a pretty harrowing event with a 2km swim in a very muddy and murky river, a wind blown 80km cycle, followed by an extremely hot 20km run. Congratulations and well done to Scott Thompson, Ben Hall, Dean Webb, Sam Coleman, Andrew Cosgrove, Richard Mourant and Terry Simpson for putting in a great effort and finding time to smile for photos along the way!
A special congratulations to Sam Coleman who podiumed with a 3rd place in the Clydsdales. A super effort Sam!
Sebastian (Bas) Thompson competed in the Super Saturday Fire Starter Enticer Tri before the main event and had a fantastic race, finishing 2nd in his age group. An awesome effort Bas and congratulations!!
The AGM is coming up in 2 weeks time on Saturday 27th of February (not 28th as previously advertised by mistake!). Please consider putting your hand up to become a member. We have a number of positions becoming vacant, including President. Have a chat to Stu or an existing Committee Member and fill out a nomination form. A big thank you in advance!
Have a great weekend everyone AND…….
