It was a hype of activity this morning at Twinnies with 79 competitors eagerly completing the course. Conditions were great for racing so I expect times would have been pretty good.

It’s great to see most people are arriving with working bike lights front and back. Please make sure you bring your own lights as we only have a limited number available to lend. Remember that to be able to compete you must have lights front and back.

To be eligible to race you must be a member of both Twin Towns Services Club and the Triathlon Club. You are able to purchase a 3 year Twin Towns membership, however you must renew the Triathlon Club membership every year at a cost of $20. To check when your membership is due call Twin Towns Membership on 55 990260.

60 Seconds with Scott Collins

Scott is one of Twinnies original members beginning his tri career racing in the 2nd ever Twin Town Tri Club’s race in 1989. Scott was in the National Kayaking Team and was drawn to triathlon to keep his fitness up. Over the years Scott has had a few ‘gap years’ and has completed about 210 races. He is a Midnight Oil and Guns and Roses fan and plans to keep on doing tris well into the future.

Bike Maintenance Course

Thank you to Steve West who ran a second bike maintenance course this morning. It was a full house and everyone appreciated Steve sharing and demonstrating his wealth of knowledge of bikes.

Marshalls

Thank you to Rowena Smith, Mark Whiticker, Gerard Robards and Kaleb Robards who were our course Marshalls today.

Next week marshalls are; Wendy Wise on Fraser, Deb Davies at Woodlands Drive, Jono Davies at Lochlomond RAB and Phil Salter at the Tooloona RAB.

AGM

Don’t forget that the AGM is on February 27th after the race. We would love some new faces on the committee so if you’re keen, fill in a nomination form when you’re next at the club. The President’s position will be vacant as Stuey is ready to hand over to someone new. Please consider and put forward a nomination.

Tracy 🙂
