Conditions today were very windy. It was reported by a participant that the race was ‘hot and hard’. So, despite this there was a fairly good turnout with 74 participants. Well done to all of you who saw it through.
Welcome to our new members this morning. They were Kat and Andrew Miller, Beau Smith Mick Corcoran and Robert Harris. Come again! And good to see some members of the Davies family back with us this morning. We have missed you.
Just a bit of housekeeping. After sitting at the desk with the wonderful Caitie, it was brought home to me once again how important it is to YELL YOUR NUMBERS before just before you cross the mat for all transitions and finish. It really helps as the communication to the timing tablet from your timing chip is not 100% reliable and timekeepers are having to manually tap you in often.
Please remember to dismount at the cones and walk/run your bike to your rack.
One of our marshals reported at least 10 cyclists had no lights at all, plus, a number had lights that were not clearly visible. Remember please this is a club rule to comply with to participate in the race. ‘No bike lights no race’.
On a lighter note, (no, no pun) we would like to thank our new sponsors Summerland. For weekly prizes we have been given small, portable bottles of sunscreen, great for sport and travel. Also, for larger awards, some big umbrellas. Thank you to Alex Torrance for organising these items.
Don’t forget our Tri Christmas Party on Sunday 15thDecember 2.00pm at Terranora Tavern for drinks (2 vouchers), food platters and more fine prizes. Please let Jenny Scaysbrook know if you are attending so we have some idea of numbers.
Presentation
This morning the weekly presentation was given by our Vice-President Terry Simpson. President Stu Crawford has left the country for a few weeks…..
As the club celebrated it’s 30th anniversary this week, we rewarded Alex Gilks for completing 603 (!) races, he was presented with $300 voucher for Twin Towns. Alex has also been club point score winner several times for his dedication. He thanked the present and past committees for the work put back into the club. Alex is the only person who has competed in at least 20 races every season for the past 30 years, a phenomenal achievement, Alex, thankyou for the support.
October Point Score Winner was Jamie Brindley. Terry presented him with an embroidered towel (see photo). Next week a November Point Score Winner will be awarded. And the winner for November is…….
Some of the TT Triathletes have competed in outside events and have had commendable results. The ones we know about are Dean Webb all the way over in Busselton, Sera Graham who came 3rd in her age group and won the ocean swim at Hamilton, and Travis Coleman won in Raby Bay. There were several of us who raced at Kingscliff. Well done all of you. We have an upcoming young triathlete, Holly Rodway, who has been selected Queensland Intermediate Team. Congratulations Holly.
