A little wet and windy out there this morning, with 56 competitors racing under the old handicap system for the first time in a couple of years.
Simon Harradence continues to rack up the wins with a time of 50:40 – well done Simon, especially in less than optimal conditions. Nick O’Reilly (54:38) and Marcel Van Kampen (55:12) rounded out the top 3 – well done guys!
Great to see Lee Butcher, Matt Stanley, Andrew Armstrong, Craig Broadhurst and Aaron Neylan returning for their first race of the season and a couple of new competitors Odette Blacklock and Yaminah Evans – thanks to Mel and Aimee for taking them around the Intermediate course.
Next Saturday we have the Annual Joe Kelly Teams Event followed by the Australia Day Breakfast
More information to follow during the week, but basically you will be placed in a team of 3 and each member will complete all 3 legs of a short course suitable for Intermediate and full distance racers.
The teams will be handicapped and it is a fun day and a great opportunity to meet other members and have a smaller hit-out prior to Kingy Tri on the Sunday. Feel free to dress up in your favourite Australia Day gear. Our MC will be the one and only Kev Bannerman and we will be having a cooked breakfast after the race, with bacon and egg rolls, Scott Thomson‘s world-famous pancakes and of course lamingtons.
FUTURE EVENTS
12 February – AGM – Annual General Meeting
Meeting where new committee is confirmed for following season. important for the club moving forward and if you have an interest in helping to guide the club then please nominate. More info to come on the AGM in a separate post but keep in mind the we need people to step up if you want this great club to not only continue but to thrive
5 March – Club Championships and Presentation
Last race of the season and an opportunity to race with traffic control. The nomination forms are now available at sign in for Club Championships on the 5th March. Due to the disrupted season you will only need to have completed 3 races to compete.
We will be running a regular race prior and presentation and breakfast afterwards with great prizes and raffles – we would love to have as many people racing on the day so if you are unable to meet the criteria let the President know and we can make a decision on eligibility.
