It was a relief to enjoy a dry road for the Twinnies race this morning after an incredibly wet week. Looking at the forecast the rain is still going to hang around next week. We had just over 50 competitors with conditions not too bad. The ride was hindered by a southerly so the climb up Fraser was a little more difficult than usual but the run was quite mild which we can be grateful for at this time of year. Everyone must have had places to go and people to see this morning as when Stu was ready to start Presentation there was hardly anyone left. Hopefully everyone will read this post to find out about what’s happening next week!

Next week is the second Double Distance event for the season. There will be one DD wave beginning at 5.30am so those competitors need to arrive by 5.00am to allow plenty of time to pay and set up. All other waves will go off at the usual times. Remember to register online before 7pm on Thursday. No entries will be accepted before the race on Saturday. DON’T FORGET TO CHARGE YOUR LIGHTS.

Next week is also the AGM. Please hang around after the race and attend the meeting. There will be coffee and cake to enjoy as well as the usual good company.

Club Championships will be held on Saturday 20th March. To be eligible to race you must have completed a minimum of 10 races, done a marshalling duty and completed the nomination form that is available at the payment desk.

This year we are changing our Presentation format and instead of an evening event we will be holding a catered Presentation Breakfast after the race. This will allow our very strong junior club to also be involved. The breakfast will be provided by the club, however it is essential we have exact numbers of attendees. More information will be posted in the coming weeks.

Marshalls

Thank you to Alex Gilks, Dean Webb, Guy Davoren and Danny Warner who were our course Marshalls today.

Next week Marshalls are; Tim Eade on Fraser, Val Lambard at Woodlands Drive, Cheryl Atkinson at Lochlomond RAB and Ian Curnow at the Tooloona RAB.

We still have a Marshalling vacancy for Saturday 13th March. If anyone is available to do this duty please send a message to Stu. Thank you!!

That’s it! Have a great weekend and stay safe on damp, wet pot holed roads!

Tracy 🙂
