What a super morning we had for the recommencement of the Twinnies Tri Season. It was great to see over 70 old and new members arrive and compete in our first race in absolutely perfect conditions. While it was quite chilly before the start, the pool was a perfect temperature, no wind on the bike and the warmth of the day had not quite started during the run.

To allow the race to go ahead, we have had to implement a Covid plan that was communicated to members throughout the week, requiring everyone to register by Thursday 7.00pm to enable wave starts to be allocated and posted on Friday. On arrival participants were required to scan a QR code and enter details to enable us to have an accurate record of people on site. This ran smoothly and we would like to thank everyone for their cooperation in completing the online form.

Bike Lights

This morning there were a number of competitors who did not have lights. To be eligable to compete all competitors MUST have working bike lights front and back.

DON’T FORGET YOUR LIGHTS FRONT AND BACK!

If you arrive and discover you have forgotten your lights or they have gone flat there is a container of spares. Ask at registration and all you have to do is leave your keys so you don’t forget to return the lights.

The traffic is getting busier on our cycle course so flashing lights are an essential safety item.

Marshalls

Thank you to Michelle Jones, Craig Broadhurst, Kent Holmes and Scott Bornhold for doing the marshalling duties today.

Next week marshalls are; Marcel Van Kampen on Fraser, Jeff Stella at Woodlands Drive, Scott Collins at Lochlomond RAB and Hollie Robards at the Tooloona RAB.

Thank you to everyone who nominated a date to Marshall. A reminder to all members that if the roster is not full by race 5, those who have not nominated will be allocated a marshalling date randomly by chip numbers. To check out available dates  click on the ‘Marshall Roster & Events’ page found in the menu bar at the top of this post. It is a requirement of the council and police that we provide 4 Marshalls each week or we are unable to hold the event. Thank you in advance for helping out!

The club would like to extend our gratitude and appreciation to Andrew Costello for donating a Defibrillator. It will be located behind the timekeeping table from 5am until last pack up.

Thank you to race timekeepers Dave and Katy for doing a brilliant job managing the timing system this morning.
An extra thank you to Dave for all the behind the scenes work he puts in creating wave starts, posting results and all those extra jobs he does that we don’t know about!!

Reminders

Don’t forget to register by 7pm on Thursday.

If you register before Thursday and then realise you won’t be competing in the race, please send the club an email or send Dave a Facebook message, as this will allow more spots in the wave start you were registered in. Thank you!

To be eligible to race, all competitors must become a member of Twin Towns Services Club and Twin Towns Triathlon Club after their first race.

Race 1 – Wave 1 – 6.00am – 2020/2021 Season

Have a great weekend everyone!
