It was dark start to this week’s Double Distance Saturday for the huge rollup with many using it as the last hit out before next weeks Tweed Enduro or getting in some extra longer distance for those participating in Challenge Roth later this year. And, again great numbers for our full and intermediate distance races.

Our marshals out of the course today were Ginny Jones, Jo Ward, Rob Worth and Jeff Murray and it was great to see their smiles when I delivered hot drinks and a light breakfast as a thankyou.

Next week we will see Alex Gilks up on Fraser, Sam Coleman at Woodlands Dr, Johnno Davis at Lochlomond Drive and Deb Davis at Tooloona Dr

Our  60 second talk was with Richard Mourant

Next Saturday we will he holding out AGM at 8am in the Swim Lounge.  I will attach a copy of last year’s minutes for your information and reading. We will see our Vice President Terry Simpson, Secretary Jenny Scaysbrook and Committee Ginny Jones and Kyle Mooney standing down. I have received nominations from three (3) members who wish to stand for the committee.

I would like to thank Jenny for the past 8 seasons as our secretary and Terry for the past 3 seasons as our Vice President. And to Ginny who for the past two seasons has driven to various points on the bike course to put our our ‘bike ahead’ signs. Kyle Mooney are resident Ironman- 3 ironman events in the past 12 months at different locations across the globe- mammoth effort and to Natalie, a very understanding and supporting wife.

Our club championship race will be held on Saturday 28th March. We have booked the police to be in attendance at the traffic light outside Centaur Primary and Banora High and at Winders Place.

From next Saturday we will be taking nominations for the various age group categories for both male and female

U18 Intermediates , U18, 18-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69,70 +

Presentation Night

We have begun selling tickets to our annual Presentation Dinner and Awards Night. Tickets will cost $40 cash which includes a three  (3) course dinner and a couple of drink tickets. This year we will have the pleasure of Bill Chaffey a 5 times World Champion as our guest speaker.

Ginny Jones is selling the tickets each Saturday, there will be no ticket sales at the door or on Club Championship Saturday as we need to get numbers to the caterers.

We are taking nominations for our Galah Award, if you have video or photographic evidence to support your nomination, please send it in. We had a nomination on Saturday with committee man Darren Jones hitting the deck whilst taking a detour through the gardens near the sink hole, then there’s JK who captured his own fall via his bike camera. No doubt there are more our there, how good would it be to have to vote!

Once again thanks to our weekly sponsors Twisted Fig, Oasis Pools, South Coast Supercycles, Coast Cyclery, Tweed Coast Chiropractic, DGC and Cannibal Clothing.

We welcomed two new members this week Cat McNab who competed in the Intermediate distance and Taryn Lester who was first out of the pool for DD in a time of 15:47sec.

Finally, we wish all our Twinnies member who will be competing at the Tweed Enduro next Saturday our best.
