Another race in our calendar has been ticked off. We have nearly reached the hump in our season with only 13 races till Club Championships, we have seen new members and some old (peeps we haven’t seen for a while) turn up- welcome back Sheridan.
Bike Racking
As we see more competitors turning up, its probably a ideal time to discuss bike racking. We know some people have paid a lot of money to get their piece of real estate to place their bike and running gear each week, so its important to ensure that bikes are racked alternatively.
What that means is that when you place yourhandle bars on the rack, on each side there should be room for someone on the opposite side to place their bike.
What this does is allow you room to place your running gear, bag on the left hand side ( non-drive side) of your bike.
Bike Lights
I harp on this each week and its important that we get it right, we all know that the sun has risen. But the necessity of having the bike lights on is to make us more visible to the motoring public. A bright flashing front and rear light that can be easily seen from at least 50 metres away may help to save you from being hit. One of our competitors was spoken to by President Matt and myself yesterday because it was reported his lights were not operating. On closer inspection the rear light was operational, but facing towards the centre of the road, and although working. It extremely difficult to see from a distance of 5 metres away. Others have found that on returning or during the ride that their lights have run out of puff and gone flat. Maybe you could ask Santa for an early Christmas present to be delivered before next Saturday.
Great Riding
A fine example of great riding was witnessed by President Matt. Young Johno Davis was seen to stop at an orange light prior to it turning red. Looks like Johno knows his road rules. But for those that need a little refreshing, have a read of this short extract from NSW Road Rules or click here for more details
ROAD RULES 2014 – REG 57
Stopping for a yellow traffic light or arrow
57 Stopping for a yellow traffic light or arrow
(1) A driver approaching or at traffic lights showing a yellow traffic light must stop:
Red means stop. Wait behind the stop line.Do not go through the intersection.
Yellow (amber) means stop. You can enter the intersection if you are so close that sudden braking might cause a crash.
Green means proceed through the intersection carefully.
Milestone Moments
Today we congratulated Gerard Robards on his completion of 300 club races. Now that’s a great effort for turning up each week for at least the past 12 years. Well done!
Twinnies Club Gear
If you wish to get some club gear now is the chance. Please let Tracey know by sending her a text or calling her with your order. Orders will be placed with Cannabil this Tuesday and you will need to have full payment to her at next Saturdays race. Where else can you get a quality tri-suit for $100. This will be the only order placed, so don’t miss out.
Marshals
Your course marshals today were, Clive Pearce at the top of Fraser, Frank Adler at Woodlands RAB and the self proclaimed Sherrif Jim Collins at Lochlomond RAB.
Next Week we will see Kev “The Rock” Bannerman sitting at the top of Fraser with Lisa and Danny Warner working out who wants the other two posts.
We still have a couple of holes to fill in the marshaling roster, so if you could help out, have a look and let me know where and when you can assist.
