It was a beautiful dry morning down at Twinnies, barely a puff of breeze as members rolled into rack their bikes as the sun began to rise, a quick check of the lights and tyre pressures, then those that had pre-registered only had to part with their race fee and get their race number, and chat with friends -whilst those that had not pre registered had to visit the timing marshal table, run around the pool, do ten burpees before they got to get enter to the race**.(See the end of this post for an explanation)
We had 2 newbies join the 67 athletes across the two races in what appeared to be excellent race conditions, a short time later seasoned athletes headed to social media to see how other fellow competitors faired with the abnormally dry air conditions, was it due to the dust storm that had blanketed area over the past couple of days or just a soft heart ?
Preparations were in full swing to the Chrissy party bus trip to Cape Byron Ginnery and the Rock and Roll (Asian Fushions) Café in Mullumbimby, lets just say there we two bus and tour rules apply – what happens on Tour stays on Tour, but lets just say the visit to the distillery on St Helena Road, Byron Bay was a hit, then it was onto Mullumbimby were we were treated to a feast of food, Congrats to both Julie West and Wendy Sanders for organizing it and to those that provided the snacks following the gin tour and short bush walk.
Assistance Treasurer Kev ‘the Rock’ Bannerman has accepted the role to manage and maintain the point score championship, so we can expect an update in the coming weeks.
