Well today ticks off another Twin Towns Triathlon race for our season.  We welcomed today first timers Craig Boswell, Darryl Capner and Amanadine who accompanied her husband Sam Adams who has been around the course previously. They joined in along with 68 other competitors across the 2 distances. Today we had Sara Graham marshaling at the top of Fraser, Sue Baxter at Woodlands Drive and Deb Anderson holding fort at the Lochlomond Roundabout.

It was pleasing to see 100% compliance with cyclists bike lights, Di Lance with Hugo and myself watched all cyclists leaving this morning and one observation was the need to ensure that they are fully charged, there were one of two that although operating, they were very dull, another had the light facing to the side and therefore not clearly visible from behind. I know we, the Committee keep harping on the need to have the lights operating, this distinguishes us from other cyclists in the Banora area on a Saturday morning if a complaint is made to the police or the council. As we all know there are plenty of people who are quick to complain about cyclist’s behavior on the roads, bike lights during daylight hours help to make you safer on the roads as a flashing or still light help to catch the motorist eye and attention.

We had an indecent where one competitor rode through a red light, he was spoken to by another competitor at the finish line. The cyclist has been spoken to and the matter is now in the hands of officials.

Our Christmas party is next Saturday, a bus ride to Cape Byron Distillery for some spiritual guidance and dinner at Asian Fusion, Mullumbimby. There will be at this stage – three designated pick up spots, Tweed Bowls Club, Club Banora and Jenna’s Corner Kingsliff. I will be sharing further information on exact locations and departure times by email  on our facebook page during the week. We are still collecting money and as of today only half of the people have paid. So, you have until next Saturday 0800am EDST for pay the $60.

VP tall Terry Simpson gave the presentation today in the absence of President Matt Lance, Terry spoke of ‘Movember’ and the importance of men getting a blood test to check their PSA levels for prostrate cancer.  He also said it’s the only time of the year he’s allowed to grow a moustache. So boys, take some time out of your day to visit the doc and get a referral to get your blood tests ASAP.

For those that purchased tickets from Col Woodward  on behalf of Tweed Palliative Support- Wedgetail Retreat, he thanks you. This wonderful organisation provides home-based palliative support services and live-in hospice nursing care for people with a life-limiting illness. They are the only adults’ community hospice in NSW. If you would like more information or would like to donate, please email info@tweedpalativesupport.com.au

There is still some confusion about understanding your results, firstly our race starts at 0600, so if your handicap start time is 06:15:00 you need to deduct 15min from your overall finish time. Both your ride and run times are correct.  Also when looking the results- where it shows ‘finish time’ (that indicates the first person to cross the finishing mat, not the fastest competitor) there is a drop down option, click and select, ‘adjusted time’ which will show the fastest competitor.

Again, we request that your CALL OUT your number when you cross the blue finishing timing mat. Not as you enter the gate, please SHOUT OUT YOUR NUMBER- CLEARLY when your cross the blue finish timing mat……………

Our Sign Marshal Ginny Jones is calling on volunteers to help put out the signs during December whilst she is away. If you can help, please let me know.
