Where else would you want to early on a beautiful Gold/Tweed Coast Saturday morning than down at Twinnies for a club triathlon, well at least 75 racers thought so. Across the two distance we had 65 in the full and 10 in the intermediate.
This week we saw both Kent and Jenny in full force running the timing system, one thing they keep reporting is that competitors when coming through the timing shoot are either not calling out their number or do it very quietly. Please give them the death star- look them fair in the eye as you shout out your number – I can guarantee they won’t take offence.
Remember if you wish to purchase some Twinnies Club gear, we will be putting ONE (1) order in. See the link for the gear options and let me know via the Contacts Page or Uniform Convener -Tracey Foyster. We need your money up front to confirm your order.
I hope you all said ‘Hi’ and ‘Thanks’, to Glenn, Trev (Mighty Mouse) and Viki Lawes who were your marshals today. Everyone who marshals gets 15 race points towards the club championships. Just on Points system, everyone who has raced this season, has accumulated points. We just needed to sort out the timing system, so standby for a points update which will be coming to you soon.
I know we continue to harp on safety, but its need to ensure the longevity of our club. We need to prepare a new traffic management plan when we submit our application each year. Our application is assessed by the Police, Tweed Council and the Roads and Maritime Service. We are obliged to place marshals at certain locations, place advisory signs at key intersections and ensure all competitors having operating front and back lights. We can never guarantee that our application will be accepted, so by making it a club rule that all cyclists have operating lights, updating our advisory signs, adding an additional marshal all go towards showing that Twin Towns Triathlon Club is doing its upmost to ensure the safety of our members. It was noted today by our marshals that a number of cyclists did not have operational lights on their bikes. If you do not want to be disqualified for riding the bike leg, please make sure you have lights on our bike front and rear.
We welcome on board today another weekly sponsor for our random draws. Ian and Jenny Curnow from Tweed Coast Chiropractic. If you miss out on a weekly voucher, don’t dispair, they are happy to offer this treatment to any Twin Towns members @ $15/ half hour and as a bonus if you have private health fund it won’t cost anything. So why not give Ian or Jenny a call (02) 6674 4032 you’ve got nothing to loose.

How good was this mornings breakfast – well done to Wendy, Julie,Di and Jenny, thanks very much. For those that missed out on the muesli yogurt cups- I have been assured there will be more next time.
Next week we expect to see reduced numbers at Twinnies with a large contingent of members making the annual trip north to compete and then party in the Noosa Multi Sports Festival, the largest triathlon in the Southern Hemisphere. A number of Twinnies members have featured on the Noosa Podium in the past and we expect it will be no different this year. I, on the other hand will be contributing my entry fee to the winner’s purse and being one of those that make up the numbers. But rest assured we will be eating well, I have spoken to our Chef de Tour aka Chris Watt and he has assured me that we will again be eating and drinking like Kings.
Your marshals next week will be, Alex Torrance, Doug Neil and Wendy Wise and you’re on the spot reporter will be Kevin ‘the Rock’ Bannerman. With Dave DQ de Closey mD and the rest of the Committee also away, the race officials will be Vice President Terry Simpson, Treasurer Kent Holmes, Asst. Treasurer Kev Bannerman and our Sign Marshal Ginny Jones.
Don’t forget our current club champ Travis Coleman embarks on his first hit out as Professional Triathlete on Sunday at Nepean, Sydney. Go hard Trav and don’t leave anything in the tank, you’ve got a week to recover before Noosa. Here he is wearing his brand new Cannibil Race suit.
